Laura Wilson
Blacktop

Saturday 7th June
10:00—16:00
Whitstable Museum and Art Gallery

Inspired by the imposing Bretts Aggregates factory in Whitstable, Wilson has created a film investigating this industrial feature, its purpose and position, throughout the expansion and development of the town since the 1930s. Interested in the social, political and economic landscape that surrounds the production of asphalt, to its transportation and application, the project explores its invention alongside the industrial revolution and the development of roads throughout history in relation to the lifespan of the material. Wilson’s research will be presented as a film accompanied by sculptural works.
